Kaleidoscope Cafe & colorful outfit

I went to Kaleidoscope Cafe a few weeks ago with friends.  Great things about it include:

- it's a BYOB

- there are kaleidoscopes on the table (did you know you can take a pic of the kaleidoscope through your phone?)

- the food and service are amazing

- the atmosphere is relaxed

- there is a cool mural on the exterior

- it's locally owned

I split the large Autumn Harvest Salad with a friend as an appetizer. I enjoyed the salad other than the dressing which was too tart for me.  For my entree I ordered the Classic Pasta Marinara which was also tasty.  The three of us girls split a lemon cake slice for dessert.

I bought red denim pants this weekend.  As soon as I tried them on I was visualizing outfits to put together with these new bottoms.  Here is an example of what I'm brewing...it seems a bit inspired by the kaleidoscope mural and bold colors through the peephole.

shirt thrifted, pants forever 21 available here, bag kenneth cole hobo similar here here here here, earrings forever 21 similar here & here*

*a note on earrings - I like big earrings but they have to be lightweight.  I am not trying to gage my ears anytime soon.

Please excuse the iPhone snapshots.  I'll get back to some fancy photos tomorrow.

Now for some links to great articles/images from around the web:

Apartment Therapy: the simple beauty of vintage mirrors

I wanted to post the Anthony Bourdain interview I read in the new Men's Journal while on the elliptical tonight, but alas, like so many magazines, they neglect to keep their websites current with their paper publications.  I predict this will change as consumers demand more cohesion across formats.

Centsational Girl's post combines my love of wine, animal prints, enjoyment giving gifts and fantasy of becoming a great seamstress.

Will higher ed be the next bubble to burst?  I find the "don't get an MBA" argument interesting and I'm in the target audience deciding whether or not to get an MBA.

Lastly, how is everyone's Christmas and Holiday shopping going?  I am well underway with shopping and wrapping.  I am looking forward to finishing up my gift purchases so I can sit back, relax, and envision the smiles my gifts will bring.

  1. Love the outfit you put together. You are such a little style-nista. My christmas shopping hasn’t even started yet–I plan to tackle a lot of it this weekend.

    • Thank you kindly. Good luck shopping this weekend. Please do not get sprayed in the face by an aggressive perfume salesperson like Will Arnett on “Up All Night.”

  2. Whoa, my worlds are colliding. Brian and I were JUST talking about the Thiel Fellows on the walk to the bus today. I’m on the fence. I def don’t think everyone should go to college (some people are better suited for trades or other professions that don’t require a BS/BA) but I’m not sure we should encourage the smartest young people to stay away from school. Why not award the fellowship to 22-year-old college grads, instead? That way, if things don’t work out, they’ll have a shiny college degree to fall back on.

I didn’t realize people were saying there are too many MBAs. It seems like such a practical (if expensive) degree. And I know the economy sucks right now, but I’d imagine an MBA makes you more versatile = you’re more likely to find a job during tough times.
