You manage what you measure

I had a boss who used a lot of MBA speak like:

control the controllables

and

you can’t manage what you don’t measure

For a long time I lived in a whimsical monetary world. I’m not bad at math but was goofy and feast-and-famine with money. I’ve always taken pride in the fact I contribute to my 401k funds at least. :-|

For the past few weeks I have buckled down and tracked every dollar I spend.

When you track it all, it is easier to see patterns and diagnose unneeded, impulse spending and areas where you can cut back.

Old habits die hard but I feel a good shift happening in me.
